Cool Cables

The completed back of the Charley sweater, not blocked yet.

A close up of the cabling.

The front (bottom) of the sweater.

I have been neglecting hubby's Charley Sweater, since I started the Marianne Cardigan. I love cabling and I found this cool tip from Wendy Knits on cabling without the cable needle! I tried it on the sweater and it works. I think if you were working on a smaller gauge, or slippery yarn you should stick with the cable needle.

I didn't make a sweater for hubby, when we were dating, because for a long time I didn't know how to knit. But, I also subscribe to the boyfriend sweater curse: if you make him a sweater you will break up. Yes, it sounds silly, but it makes sense. A sweater takes a lot of time, a lot of thought, a lot of love. And most likely he won't understand that, since most non-knitters don't know the passion involved. So then, one day if you see said sweater on the floor or worse yet, never worn (!), you will go berserk and break up with him. You're saying you wouldn't do that? Well, evidently you're a better person than I am, can you make me a sweater?
